Custom Hydraulic Cylinder Specifications

Each Best cylinder is manufactured using CNC machining technology. Automated welding, machining,
and assembly processes are applied, followed by comprehensive product testing.

Our mobile hydraulic, telescopic cylinder products and rams are supplied with a multitude of seal designs,
bore and rod configurations, pressure ratings, porting, integrated valves and special mountings.

Rod Sizes
1/2” to 5 ” are available in solid designs, and many of these sizes are available in tubular designs
for weight reduction or for rod fed applications.

Seal Options
We use a variety of seals from the leading manufacturers including Parker, Hallite and SKF.
A broad range of application and material considerations are used to determine the best seal
package for each application.

We use an unlimited variety of highest quality seals based on the application. Pressure rating,

Pistons
Available in steel, aluminum, cast or ductile iron material grades.

Head Glands
Available in steel, aluminum, cast or ductile iron material grades.  Internally and externally
threaded heads are standard.

Wear Bands
We include wear bands on many of our pistons and head glands for prolonged seal life and
protection against material wear and side-load.

Mountings
Clevises (double ear), tangs (single ear), cross-tubes, drilled pinholes, flanges, foot-mounts,
plates, trunnions and any customized variation desired is available.

Rod Materials
75mY 1045/10V45 is standard for solids with .0008” minimum chrome thickness.
100mY, Induction Hardened, 303 Stainless, thicker chrome finishes (to 500 hour salt spray life),
and iron nitride finishes are also available. Hollow rods are made with 1026 tubing and
come with most of these same options.

Tube Materials
The selection of DOM tube, honed or fully honed, is based in the customer’s specifications
and the product’s work environment. All steel tubing is high carbon C1026 material.
Special ID surfaces including chrome and iron nitride are available.

Cylinder Options
Integrated cartridge valves, piston bypass valves, cushions, rephase porting, integrated
position sensing and non-repairable construction designs are all readily available.

Each component of a Best hydraulic cylinder is manufactured for greatest structural integrity
and to comply with the customer’s specifications in a cost-effective manner.
